Laboratory Profile

Low cost devices, Internet of Things and Technology, innOvation Research Advisors (LITTORAL) Laboratory. We are a research and innovation laboratory made up of employees at technical, undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. Our main areas of activity are in the areas of Long Range Networks, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence. We seek to optimize the planning, development, prototyping and implementation of new technological solutions.

received the B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Piauí, Teresina, Brazil, in 2006, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Telecommunications from the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo, São Carlos, Brazil in 2009 and 2015, respectively. In 2009, he joined the Teresina Technical College at the Federal University of Piauí, where he is a Professor of Computer Science. He teaches the Master’s degree in the Postgraduate Program in Computer Science (PPGCC/UFPI) and the Doctorate in Computer Science in the UFMA/UFPI Association program (DCCMAPI). His major research interests include Internet of Things, Smart Sensors, applications of Intelligent Systems for Optical Communications, Evolutionary Computation, Computer Networks and modeling of Optical Code Multiple-Access Networks.

Artur Felipe da Silva Veloso

Doctoral student

Graduate, Master and PhD student in the area of ​​Computer Science, with an emphasis on Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and web programming. Specialist in Data Science and MBA in Business Intelligence, MBA in Data Architecture and Engineering and Project Management. Currently works as CTO and Senior Full Stack Data Scientist at Codar.pro. Technology and innovation consultant for startups at Sebrae Piauí. CEO and founder of Startups Fábrica de Gênios and Jobs FG.

Thiago Allisson Ribeiro da Silva

Doctoral student

PhD student in Computer Science in the Postgraduate Program in the Broad Association modality of the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) and the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), starting in March 2022, in the area of ​​IoT. Holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Piauí, UFPI, 2016. Graduated in Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the State University of Piauí, UESPI, (2013). Develops research in IoT, focused on connectivity services for applications in Smart Grids, in the context of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). His areas of interest are: Intelligent Systems, AI, Programming, IoT and Data Science. He is currently a professor at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Maranhão – Barra do Corda Campus.

Geraldo Abrantes Sarmento Neto

Doctoral student

Bachelor in Computer Science from the Federal University of Maranhão (2010) and Master in Computer Science from the Federal University of Campina Grande (2012). He is currently a doctoral candidate at DCCMAPI (UFMA/UFPI). In 2014, he joined the Floriano Technical College of the Federal University of Piauí (CTF/UFPI), where he is a Professor of Computing. Areas of interest: Internet of Things, Computer Network, Machine Learning, Distributed Systems and Image Processing.

Fernando Jorge Vieira Santos

Master’s student

I have a degree in Information Systems from the Faculty of Technology of Piaui (2009), Specialization in Database from the Faculty of Technology of Piaui (2016) and Specialization in Higher Education Teaching (2018). He has experience in the area of ​​Advanced Support in: Infrastructure (HARDWARE, SERVERS, NETWORKS) and works as an EBTT IT professor at IFMA Campus Avançado de Porto Franco. I am a Quantum Computing enthusiast with an emphasis on Computational Models and Algorithms.

Luis Henrique de Oliveira Mendes

Bachelor’s degree in computer science

Computer and Electronics Technician from the Federal Institute of Piauí (IFPI). He is currently studying Computer Science at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI).

Pedro Felipe Ferreira de Abreu

Bachelor’s degree in computer science

Has experience in the area of ​​Computer Science. Additional areas of interest: Internet of Things (IoT), its protocols and applications; In computer networks, with an emphasis on Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN).
